Neuropsychologist names unexpected cause of early dementia

Clinical psychologist, neuropsychologist Lyudmila Maksimenko said that most people have cognitive deterioration and clipped thinking due to the large amount of consumed content.
In a conversation with Radio 1 on Friday, December 6, the specialist said that people consume content not with their brains, but with their eyes, so "there is no awareness and understanding of what is going on." In her opinion, in this way a person receives a large amount of useless information, which leads to the "decomposition of the brain".
She explained that the brain perceives emotional signals of information that provoke stress.
"The brain reacts faster to more vivid information. Harmful content contributes to cognitive decline, with most adults experiencing early dementia. It becomes harder for children to learn and understand topics," Maximenko explained.
She expressed the opinion that the human brain is a carrier of a certain amount of information and if you put useless content into it, there will be no space for useful content.
December 4, it was reported that Chinese scientists have discovered a link between facial aging and cognitive decline in the elderly. In the course of work, scientists took to analyze the data of more than 200 thousand men and women. It turned out that people who look older than their age, the risk of dementia increases by 61%, notes 360.ru. Experts have found that the appearance of fine lines in the eye area also increases the risk of cognitive disorders by 2.5 times.
In November, nutritionist nutritionist Larisa Gabdulkhakova spoke about a possible link between excess weight and the development of dementia. According to her, excess fat in the body leads to atherosclerosis and damage to the walls of blood vessels. Through such walls will not pass nutrients, including to brain cells, which slows down its work. A person's intellectual abilities decrease and he begins to have problems with memorizing information, RT reports.
In August, psychophysiologist and researcher of the Center for Neurocognitive Research of the Moscow State Pedagogical University Vera Tretyakova said that the brain stops developing by about 25-30 years of age, and its gradual aging begins at the same period. Changes are slow at first, but accelerate after 60 years, writes NSN. After 86 years of age, the loss of brain mass is about 160 g - 11.0% of the maximum mass.
