- Hungarian Foreign Minister calls circumventing sanctions against Russia a European sport

Bypassing sanctions against Russia has become a kind of sport in Europe. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto on December 6.
"Punitive measures cause the greatest harm to the European economy, and evading them has become a pan-European sport," he said during a speech at the University of Nyiregyhaza, broadcast on the politician's Facebook page (owned by the recognized extremist company Meta, its activities are banned in Russia).
According to Szijjártó, the West's strategy has failed and requires changes. He also noted that the supply of weapons to Ukraine and new sanctions do not bring peace closer, specified "Gazeta.Ru".
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson, which was published on December 6, that the country has learned a lot and become stronger since the introduction of Western sanctions. Under sanctions pressure, Russia relies more on itself and develops cooperation with friendly countries, he said.
Before that, on November 21, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova emphasized that the West had failed to strangle Russia with sanctions. She called the sanctions "blitzkrieg" of unfriendly countries and the country's "culture of abolition" really failed.
Western countries increased sanctions pressure on Russia after the start of the special operation to protect the peaceful population of Donbass, which was announced on February 24, 2022.
