The American leader-elect said on December 3 that he would attend the opening ceremony of the cathedral in Paris. He also noted the work done by the French president and added that the cathedral has been restored "to its full glory."
In April 2019, the largest fire in history broke out at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Paris. The spire collapsed, the flames engulfed the supporting structure. As established by the investigation, the fire started at the top, where restoration work was underway at the time. The exact cause of the fire was not made public. Macron announced on December 31, 2023 in a New Year's address that the cathedral would be reopened to visitors on December 8, 2024.
The last meeting between Zelensky and Trump took place on September 27 at Trump Tower in New York.
