Suspect in the theft of medals and coins from WWII veteran detained in Moscow


A woman suspected of stealing medals and collectible coins from a veteran of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) has been detained in Moscow. This was reported on December 6 in the press service of the capital's prosecutor's office.
"Under the coordination of the Presnenskaya inter-district Prosecutor's office detained a suspect in the theft of medals and collectible coins from a veteran of the Great Patriotic War", - stated in Telegram-channel.
Preliminary, the 39-year-old woman helped the pensioner in the household. She took advantage of the available free access to the apartment and opened the locked room, in which she found albums with coins. It is specified that the woman entered the room and stole albums several times, after which she sold valuable things.
She was charged with theft and a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen. The things stolen from the veteran were found in a buying point on Nikolskaya Street.
On August 17, 2023, a resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur stole awards for participation in a special military operation (SVO), as well as 1 million rubles. A criminal case was initiated over the theft under paragraph "b" of part 4 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Theft on a particularly large scale").
