On Friday and the next weekend, December 7 and 8, the State Automobile Inspectorate will conduct mass and continuous checks in the regions of Russia, focused on curbing drunk driving. Regional departments of the State Automobile Inspectorate announced about the upcoming raids.

Preventive measures, including continuous checks of motorists, will be held in Tver, Chelyabinsk, Kirov, Samara, Ryazan, Penza regions, the Republic of Altai and other regions of the country.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate reminds drivers of the inadmissibility of driving while intoxicated. Mass checks on Russian roads to identify drivers who sat behind the wheel after drinking alcohol are regularly carried out by traffic inspectors over the weekend.

"Every road user can make a contribution to reducing the number of drunk drivers. Having witnessed how a person in a state of intoxication drives a vehicle, behaves inadequately, creates dangerous situations on the road, do not remain indifferent - report it to the police. Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate are ready to take all necessary measures to respond to such reports", - said Deputy Head of the Department of Propaganda of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Police Colonel Anton Belan.

He reminded that, according to the current legislation, for driving a vehicle in a state of intoxication, as well as for refusal to undergo medical examination the driver faces deprivation of license for a period of one and a half to two years, as well as a fine of 30 thousand rubles.

"If a driver, previously deprived of his license, drives a vehicle in a state of intoxication or refuses medical examination, he, depending on the court decision, faces criminal liability in the form of a fine of 200-400 thousand rubles, up to 480 hours of compulsory labor or up to two years of forced labor," - said Anton Belan in a conversation with "Izvestia".

Earlier, on December 6, a bill was submitted to the State Duma, which provides for exemption from fines for traffic violations from photo-video fixation cameras for owners of cars with a blue flashing beacon on.
