Bundestag says US stealing money sent by EU to help Kiev

The money that the European Union (EU) allocates to help Ukraine bypasses Kiev and goes to the US budget. This was stated on Friday, December 6, the Deputy from the party "Alternative for Germany" Stefan Keuter.

"You, representatives of the old parties, would prefer to defend Ukraine to the last Ukrainian. And I still remember when the Left and the Greens went around with pacifist slogans and said that soldiers were murderers. And now you are in the forefront of supporters of arms supplies and escalation," Keuter said at a speech in the Bundestag.

The German politician said that Russia has real reasons to conduct a special military operation (SMO), comparing Moscow 's actions to the US policy in the Caribbean and South Africa. He also criticized the amount of aid to Ukraine from Washington and Berlin (more than €261 billion, of which €41 billion from Germany), stressing the gratuitous nature of German aid as opposed to commercialized American aid.

"Why do you think the Biden administration has repeatedly told the European Union to provide budgetary aid to Kiev? Yes, because this money bypassed Kiev and immediately went to the ailing US budget," the politician summarized.

US shifts responsibility for Ukraine to allies

Earlier, on November 21, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova suggested that incumbent US leader Joe Biden "has financial interests in Ukraine". She noted that some of the financial aid sent from Washington could be misappropriated by high-ranking US officials.

On December 2, the US president's national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said that the United States planned to supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with thousands of missiles and shells by the end of January. In addition to military aid to Kiev, Biden is going to reinforce Ukraine with "a series of additional measures."

Meanwhile, on December 4, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the transfer of $50bn from Russian assets to Kiev in the near future. He specified that the West has an obligation to provide training and equipment for each Ukrainian fighter that Ukraine mobilizes.
