Information about a ban on imports of mandarins from Abkhazia does not correspond to reality. The press service of Rosselkhoznadzor told Izvestia on December 6.

Earlier on Friday, acting Abkhazian Prime Minister Valery Bganba told Interfax that Russia had allegedly banned the import of tangerines, citing the decision of the sanitary services.

"This information does not correspond to reality. Russia has not imposed any bans on imports of products from Abkhazia," the ministry said.

Earlier, on October 28, Rospotrebnadzor named the signs of low-quality mandarins. The agency advised to pay attention to its appearance, hardness and flavor. It should not show signs of rot and mold, dents, damage to the rind, excessive softness or hardness and dryness. The fruit should be fragrant, firm, with easily separable rind, and uniformly colored.

On the same day, it was reported that the agency will suspend imports of Turkish mandarins into Russia from October 29 and until a special order due to exceeding the maximum permissible level of pesticides.
