Russia and Belarus approve resolution on comfortable communication tariffs

Russia and Belarus on Friday, December 6, approved a resolution on comfortable communication tariffs in the territory of the Union State.

The signing ceremony took place on the margins of the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State. Russian President Vladimir Putin and President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko took part.

Thus, the document provides for the abolition of roaming between the countries from March 1, 2025. This is planned to be achieved through the introduction of comfortable tariffs.

The Russian President announcedcomfortable tariffs for communication services between Russia and Belarus at a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State (SU).

Earlier in the day, Putin flew to Minsk to hold a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The Council of Ministers of the SU approved the resolution "On the creation of comfortable tariffs for the use of communication and data transfer services in the Union State" on November 5. Then Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin noted that a large number of Russians come to Belarus and a lot of Belarusians, including Belarusians, come to the Russian Federation, so telephone communication and Internet traffic should be in line with home tariffs.

Before that, October 20, Director of the Second Department of CIS countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexei Polishchuk said that mobile subscribers from Russia and Belarus will be provided with communication services at comfortable tariffs in the Union State from January 1, 2025. Polishchuk recalled that thanks to serious work from April 1, 2022 it was possible to cancel the fee for incoming calls and simplify the lives of Russians and Belarusians, who often travel between the two countries.
