Putin allowed the deployment of Oreshnik in Belarus in the second half of 2025

The deployment of the complex for launching the hypersonic ballistic missile of medium range "Oreshnik" on the territory of Belarus is possible in the second half of 2025. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, December 6.
"Since today we have signed an agreement on security guarantees with the use of all available forces and means, I consider the deployment of such complexes as "Oreshnik" on the territory of the Republic of Belarus possible," he said after the meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.
Putin noted that this will be possible as the serial production in the Russian Federation increases, as well as as as they arrive to the troops. The head of state also spoke about the characteristics of weapons.
"Such newest systems as Oreshnik, they have no analogues in the world, in case of group use they are comparable to the use of nuclear weapons, but they are not weapons of mass destruction for two reasons," the president said.
First, he pointed out that the weapon achieves results not through its power but through accuracy, and second, it does not contaminate the terrain and does not have any radiation effects.
Putin also emphasized that if necessary, it would be Minsk that would determine the objects of defeat from the territory of Belarus.
The request for the deployment of "Oreshnik" was made by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.
Earlier on December 6, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the decision on whether Belarus would be able to host the Russian complexes "Oreshnik", if necessary, could be made only at the level of the presidents of the two countries.
Putin announced the live test of the Oreshnik ballistic missile, one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, on November 21. He emphasized that the move was in response to the escalation by Western countries in Ukraine.
