The Ministry of Health of Russia has registered a new domestic vaccine for prophylaxis against coronavirus infection "Gam-VLP-multivac". This was reported in the press service of the Ministry on Friday, December 6.

"A vaccine based on virus-like particles for the prevention of coronavirus infection caused by SARS-CoV-2," TASS quoted the report as saying.

It was developed in Gamaleya NICEM (Russian Ministry of Health) by a biotechnological method without using live SARS-CoV-2 virus and is administered intramuscularly.

Earlier, on October 17, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) office in Russia, Batyr Berdyklychev, said that Russians at risk, including people with chronic diseases, the elderly, as well as medical workers, are recommended to be vaccinated against COVID-19, while others can do it at will.
