Representatives of the West hear Russia's statements about the situation in Ukraine and see that it is not in their favor. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova told reporters on December 6.

"Of course, everyone [in the West] hears and sees the situation on the ground not in their favor, the collapse of their dreams in inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia. That's why they are so prickled," Zakharova said.

This is how she responded to the question whether the West will hear the words of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, said in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson.

The Russian Foreign Minister's interview was published earlier in the day. There, Lavrov told Carlson that the launch of the Oreshnik missile system as part of a combat test in a special operation in Ukraine carried a message for the West: the United States and its allies, while handing over long-range weapons to Ukraine, must realize that Russia will be ready to use any means to prevent itself from being strategically defeated. The minister added that Washington was notified by Moscow about the launch of the Oreshnik half an hour before the launch.

In addition, Lavrov reminded in the interview that the Ukrainian conflict was not started by the Russian Federation. At the same time, after the coup d'état in Ukraine, the USA did not even conceal that it was taking part in it. The Russian Foreign Minister emphasized that the Ukrainian people were brotherly to the Russian people.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on November 21 that the Oreshnik ballistic missile, one of Russia's newest medium-range missile systems, had been tested in combat conditions. He specified that the move was in response to the escalation by Western countries in Ukraine.

In the following days, the head of state clarified that Russia would continue these tests and that the decision on the serial production of missiles had already been made. He also revealed that the Oreshnik has 10 separating blocks that attack the target and everything in the epicenter of the explosion turns to dust.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by the Russian president on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
