The Russian Embassy in Syria on December 6 urged Russians to leave the country by commercial flights through operating airports due to the worsening situation.

"In connection with the complicated military and political situation in Syria, the Russian Embassy in Damascus reminds Russian citizens living in Syria to leave the country by commercial flights through the operating airports," the embassy said in a statement published in its Telegram channel.

It is specified that the embassy and the consular department continue to work in the normal mode.

On November 28, the Ministry of Defense of Syria reported that terrorist groups made a major attack in Aleppo and Idlib, and the country's army began to repel it, causing serious damage to equipment and manpower of militants. The next day it became known that hundreds of terrorists in Aleppo and Idlib provinces were eliminated.

On December 4, the deputy head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Enemy Parties in Syria, Captain First Rank Oleg Ignasyuk, said that the Russian Armed Forces and the Syrian Air Force had launched missile and bomb strikes on militants' control points and hideouts, destroying up to 120 terrorists. Later, he added that at least 300 more terrorists had been destroyed in strikes on militants' gathering places, hideouts and control points.

On the same day, Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia strongly condemns the sortie in Syria by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terrorists (the organization is recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in Russia). The post-representative drew attention to the fact that the US and its allies are supporting the militants in order to "sow chaos in Syria." He recalled that the Russian Armed Forces are operating in Syria at the request of the legitimate authorities in Damascus and are fighting back against the terrorists.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on December 5 that Moscow was in contact with the Syrian authorities to exacerbate the situation in the country. He added that depending on the assessment of the situation, it would be possible to understand what kind of assistance the Syrian authorities need.

In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in his interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson that the Americans are "feeding" some Kurdish separatists in eastern Syria using profits from the sale of oil and grain. He added that after the activation of militants in Syria, Russia, Turkey and Iran united and organized the Astana format to resolve the situation. The meetings are held regularly.
