The volume of Sberbank's portfolio of responsible financing has grown by 27% since the beginning of the year and reached Br3.7 trillion. This was reported by Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank, during the Investor Day.

"At the same time, ESG loans accounted for the main share, and the volume of social loans doubled. At the same time, we continue to help businesses in matters related to sustainable development, providing non-credit ESG products," Vedyakhin noted.

According to him, interest in non-credit ESG products has also increased - their sales volume exceeded 2.5 billion rubles. At the same time, the share of small and microbusinesses in this segment has increased to 49%, while in 2023 about 90% of revenue was accounted for by large and medium-sized businesses. Most often non-credit ESG products were purchased by companies engaged in the food industry, retail and services, Vedyakhin specified.

In addition, he recalled that Sber was one of the first in the market to automate the process of collecting and monitoring ESG data, including data for greenhouse gas calculations. This approach, emphasized the deputy chairman of the bank, is in line with the trend towards tougher requirements of regulators for mandatory disclosure of non-financial reporting by public companies and recommendations on ESG risk accounting.

Also, in order to transform the bank into a human-centered company, the bank's Sustainable Development Strategy was updated and climate goals were approved. Thus, in 2025, it is planned to create a Green Technology Lab, which will develop digital solutions, including those based on AI.

"We support the development of a green economy in Russia by financing sustainable development projects, including green building, social initiatives and energy efficiency," Vedyakhin said, adding that Sber plans to become a competence center for green technologies.
