Experts predicted a decline in new car sales in 2025

In 2025, in absolute terms, sales of new cars will amount to about 1.3 million units. This will be about 10% lower than the result of 2024, but a quarter higher than in 2023, the VTB press service said.
At the same time, according to the bank's forecasts, more than 7 million cars will be sold on the Russian car market next year. Such a figure is comparable to the result of 2024.
"Next year, the car market will be under the influence of multidirectional factors. The tightened risk policy of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation (CBR. - Ed.) in car lending, high credit rates for cars with mileage, weakening of the ruble exchange rate and indexation of the utilization fee will "slow down" its growth. At the same time, sales will be stimulated by subsidized programs of automakers and state support, due to the development of which it will be possible to buy a new car on more favorable terms," explained Konstantin Karakalov, vice president, head of partner sales of car loans.
Earlier, on December 4, Andrey Terlyukevich, General Director of AutoSpecCenter Group of Companies, told Izvestia that in Russia at the end of 2024, there is a long-term trend of decreasing sales of new cars. In his opinion, the decline in car sales will continue in 2025, following the results of which the market will fall by 10-20%.
Before that, on October 22, it was reported that in Russia 65% of residents have a car. This is stated in the results of a study of the transportation company "GTK-Auto". On average in the Russian Federation in the top 5 most popular brands included Lada, Haval, Chery, Geely.
