Labeling of sports nutrition may be introduced in Russia

A draft government decree on the introduction of mandatory labeling of sports nutrition may be issued at the beginning of the year, several sources in the industry told Izvestia.

In February-March, the document, which provides for the introduction of such labeling from October 1, 2025, will undergo interdepartmental approval.

The initiative is supported in the State Duma.

"It is necessary to label sports nutrition, in order for consumers to be sure of what they are taking. It is estimated that up to 50% of products on this market are counterfeit. This topic is very important, because it concerns not only the economy, but also the health of millions of people", - explained "Izvestia" deputy of the State Duma, Olympic champion in freestyle wrestling Artur Taymazov.

Earlier, on December 1, Russia launched the first stage of mandatory labeling of certain types of canned products. As "Izvestia" reported in the CRPT, at the beginning of the month in the system "Honest Mark" was registered 135 companies - producers of canned fish. More than 5.1 million units of products with a special code have already arrived on store shelves.
