Patrushev warned of regional costs due to landfills not liquidated in time

Regions that do not eliminate landfills in time will pay for the work at their own expense. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev at a meeting on the elimination of landfills within the framework of the national project "Ecology" on December 6.

In accordance with the May decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin "On national goals and strategic objectives of development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2024", it is necessary to eliminate unauthorized dumps within the boundaries of cities in the country. Their total number is 191, and work has already been completed on 158 dumps. The remaining 33 objects are located in 23 regions. Completion of the planned activities is designed to improve the quality of life of more than 5.7 million people. At the same time, more than 3.7 billion rubles from the federal budget has been allocated for these purposes this year.

"The new national project "Environmental Wellbeing" will take into account the previous experience of federal projects. I ask everyone to keep this in mind," the deputy prime minister said.

Patrushev added that the elimination of all dumps should be promptly completed, and the quality of work will be assessed by Russians - for this purpose the monitoring of feedback and appeals will be conducted.

On the eve of Putin at a meeting of the Council on Strategic Development and National Projects said that in general in Russia eliminated 242 objects of accumulated environmental damage within the framework of the national project "Ecology". The territory of these objects was reclaimed, which made the life of more than 20 million people more comfortable and safer, said the head of state. The President drew attention to the fact that the ecological situation in the Russian Federation is changing for the better.
