- Political analyst points to the West's understanding of Ukraine's inability to defeat Russia

Many Western politicians themselves realize that they are lying when they talk about the probability of Ukraine 's victory in the conflict. This is how political scientist Ivan Mezyukho commented to Izvestiya on 6 December on Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide's reaction to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's speech at a meeting of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
The day before, Lavrov said that there are no spheres in which the OSCE can be useful in terms of its tasks. Responding to this, Eide accused Russia of disrespecting the integrity of other states and assured that "Ukraine will win."
"I think that many Western politicians who criticize Lavrov's speech at the OSCE realize themselves that they are lying when they say that Ukraine will win during this confrontation. The Norwegian representative understands 100% that no Ukraine is capable of defeating the Russian Federation, even with the help of the entire so-called collective West," Mezyukho commented.
He also noted that the Russian diplomat did not actually say anything new, as it was known before that the OSCE had lost its authority. According to him, the OSCE itself destroyed its reputation by supporting the Kiev regime during the conflict in Donbass.
Thus, Mezyukho emphasized, the inadequate reaction of Western politicians, in particular representatives of Norway, to Lavrov's speech is evidence of the continuation of the West's course of escalation in Ukraine, which will last at least until January 20, 2025, that is, until the inauguration of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
Among other things, Lavrov's position was also attempted to criticize German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock. However, during her speech, she made a mistake, speaking about the number of the population of Europe, almost twice. Later her words were corrected by the press service of the German Foreign Ministry in social networks.
Lavrov arrived in Malta to participate in the OSCE Ministerial Council on December 5. He was scheduled to meet with the foreign ministers of several countries. At the same time, the Russian side intends to draw special attention to the non-issuance of visas to representatives of Moscow.
On the same day, it was reported that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga defiantly left the plenary session hall of the OSCE Ministerial Council when Lavrov started his speech at the forum. According to the Ukrainian daily Strana.ua, the Ukrainian minister called his Russian counterpart a war criminal. Together with Sibiga, the foreign ministers of Poland and the Czech Republic also left the hall.
The Foreign Ministry reportedabout Russia's plans to take part in the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Malta in early October. In November, it was reported that Poland and its partners could not agree on their reaction to Lavrov's participation in the meeting.
The OSCE Foreign Ministers' Council, which is the central decision-making and governing body of the organization, is taking place in Malta on 5-6 December.
