Two airliners collided at São Paulo airport

Two LATAM Airlines planes collided at Congonhas Airport in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo on December 3, The Rio Times reported.

The incident occurred in the morning hours as the planes were preparing for takeoff.

"The wing tip of an Airbus A320neo caught the tail of an Airbus A319 while taxiing," the paper said.

The airplanes were stopped for inspection. No casualties were found, passengers of flights were redirected to reserve aircraft. The airport continued to work with minimal disruptions.

It is specified that the incident may affect future safety protocols as well as airport design considerations.

Earlier on October 27, two light-engine aircraft collided in the skies over Oakdale, Australia. It was specified that two people were killed as a result of the accident.
