There were 264 road accidents in Russia over the past day

Over the past day on the Russian roads there were more than 264 accidents, in which 25 people were killed and 328 injured. This was reported to "Izvestia" on Friday, December 6, in the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

As a result of 101 accidents involving pedestrians six people were killed, another 97 were injured of varying severity. Among the injured are 20 children. Of the total number of accidents involving pedestrians, 53 occurred at crosswalks and 48 outside their zone of action. There were 21 accidents involving buses on Russian roads, in which one person was killed and 35 injured. The cause of 13 accidents involving buses was the violation of traffic rules by their drivers.

Also on Thursday there were four accidents involving drunk drivers and two more accidents in which drivers refused medical examination. In such accidents, one person was killed and 10 others, including one child, were injured. Twenty-four accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which one child was killed and 24 young road users were injured.

The accident in which a child passenger was killed occurred on the 1282nd km of the federal highway "Irtysh" in the Novosibirsk region. A 26-year-old driver, who had never been issued a license, driving a foreign car while passing an unregulated intersection did not give advantage in traffic and collided with a Gazelle moving on the main road. As a result of the accident, two passengers of the car died. One of the victims was the two-year-old son of the perpetrator of the accident, who was in his mother's arms at the time of the accident in violation of the rules of transportation of children. Another passenger of the car was injured and hospitalized.

On the eve of the weekend, the State Automobile Inspectorate draws the attention of drivers to the need for adequate rest before the upcoming long overnight trip. Drivers have been warned against driving in a fatigued or sickly state. Overestimation of their own strength and monotony of the night road provoke sleep at the wheel, which can be a prerequisite for committing an accident with serious consequences. The traffic police also urges citizens who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category, experience, confident driving skills and solid knowledge of traffic rules not to get behind the wheel of motor vehicles and go out on public roads, transport passengers, especially minors.

"Always remember that the life and health of young passengers depend entirely on your skills, driving experience and law-abiding behavior on the road: refuse dangerous maneuvers and violations of the permitted speed limit, never get distracted behind the wheel, controlling the traffic situation. Parents need to constantly remind the child, regardless of his age, about the rules of safe behavior on the road. In addition, the lack of control over the behavior and leisure of children, especially in the evening, often leads to injury or death of young road users", - said "Izvestia" deputy head of the department of propaganda of the State Automobile Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, police colonel Anton Belan.

Earlier in the day it was reported that on December 6, a bill will be submitted to the State Duma, which provides for exemption from fines for traffic violations from photo-video fixation cameras owners of cars with a blue flashing beacon on. The bill proposes to amend Article 2.6.1 of the CAO.
