Blogger who trampled a Christian cross was sentenced to seven years in prison

Dorogomilovsky district court of Moscow sentenced a blogger, who trampled a Christian cross, to seven years in prison. This was reported by the press service of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction on December 6.

The defendant Khavier Yarmagomedov was found guilty under part 1 of article 148, paragraph "b" part 3 of article 242, paras. "a", "g", part 2, article 242.1 of the Criminal Code (violation of the right to freedom of conscience and religion; illegal production and trafficking in pornographic materials or objects; production and trafficking in materials or objects with pornographic images of minors).

He was sentenced to seven years' imprisonment in a penal colony of general regime, he will also have to pay a fine.

The incident became known on July 17, the same day the IC initiated a case. The court found that on July 12, Yarmagomedov stomped on a Christian cross lying on the floor with his foot, filmed it and broadcast it live.

Commenting on this, Mufti Ismail Berdiev, chairman of the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus, noted that the blogger should be punished according to the law.

It was reported that after the public outcry over his act, the blogger recorded a video apologizing.
