Russia will create the first creative city master plan for Nizhny Novgorod

The first Russian creative master plan will be developed for Nizhny Novgorod. This was announced by Marina Mongush (Abramova), Director of the Russian Creative Week Forum and President of Creative Economy, following the results of the strategic foresight session "Volga- Territory of Creativity: from spatial development strategy to comfortable urban environment" held within the framework of the Russian Creative Week -Volga Festival and Forum.
The creative master plan will become a tool for synchronizing the city's spatial development and the infrastructure necessary for the development of creative industries, emphasized Marina Mongush (Abramova):
"The creative master plan will be based on sociological, portrait studies of the city's creative class with its needs for localization and infrastructure, which should become a technical task for our usual master plan. This will make it possible to implement the tasks and needs of creative industries in the development. Why is it important? The creative class is an important component of any territory or city. The extent to which the potential of the city's creative economy is realized, including in its spatial appearance, largely determines how attractive the city will be for the younger generation. Therefore, it is important to lay down the role of creative industries and their localization at the pre-project stage".
The session "Volga - Territory of Creativity: From Spatial Development Strategy to Comfortable Urban Environment" was held with the methodological support of the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. The discussion was attended by urbanists, architects, and regional managers. The moderator was Alexander Panin, an expert in the field of urbanism, Director of the Center for Geodemography and Spatial Development of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Managing Partner of the Kartfond Design and Research Center.
Creative industries are becoming a driver of territory development, so it is important to set the possibilities of their functioning at the stage of master planning of the territory, says Alexander Panin:
"The Volga is the main river of Russia, not even in size, but in meaning. It is the cradle and the reason for the settlement system - the landscape of the national river economy and culture. On its banks those whom we now refer to as the creative class found inspiration. Khokhloma and Gorodets paintings are known all over the world. Today Nizhny Novgorod is the first city to decide on a creative master plan for the city. We will support this initiative by the expert community".
The District Festival-Forum "Russian Creative Week - Volga" takes place on December 5-7 in Nizhny Novgorod and completes the cycle of regional creative weeks in 2024.
The Russian Creative Week - Volga is hosted by the cultural and educational center Akademiya Mayak, a creative cluster located in the historic building of a textile manufactory. The organizers of the forum are ANO "Creative Economy", ANO "Center 800", and the government of Nizhny Novgorod region. The forum is supported by the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives.
