- Serbian deputy prime minister asks Russia to increase gas supplies under new agreement

Serbia is asking Russia to increase the volume of gas supplies under a new agreement that Moscow and Belgrade are currently working out. Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin told reporters on December 6 on the margins of the Verona Eurasian Economic Forum, which is taking place in Ras El Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
"We are asking for an increase [in supplies]," Vulin said.
He pointed out that gas supplies from Russia to Serbia have already been increased this year, and then the countries will sign a new agreement. Vulin believes that there will be no problems in this matter.
Serbian Deputy Prime Minister expressed confidence that Russian gas deliveries to the republic will continue in 2025, despite the possible stoppage of fuel transit through Ukraine. Vulin suggested that there might be difficulties with the payment for gas, but now the representatives of the Serbian gas company "Srbijagas" are negotiating in St. Petersburg to solve this problem. Deputy Prime Minister assured that Belgrade is doing everything possible to ensure payment for the fuel.
Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Serbia has not imposed any sanctions against Russia and has no plans to do so in the future - this is the firm policy of the republic and its President Aleksandar Vucic.
Earlier, on October 25, Vulin told Izvestia that Serbia is ready to increase the transit of Russian gas through its territory to European Union (EU) countries. In addition, the republic signed an agreement with Gazprom to increase gas imports.
Later, on November 12, Vucic predicted that in 3-4 years the U.S. will stop exporting its liquefied natural gas (LNG), because they will need it themselves, and then all the countries that now ban Russian LNG will queue up for it and demand the return of supplies.
The main gas supplier to Serbia is the Russian energy company Gazprom. On October 21, Vucic said on the RTS TV channel that for the upcoming heating season, an agreement has been reached with Russia to supply 6 million cubic meters of gas, as well as another 2 million for Russian companies in Serbia. A dialog is underway about an additional 3 million. According to him, Serbia has secured its gas supply and the best price for it thanks to the supplies from Russia.
