The newest multipurpose nuclear-powered submarine Arkhangelsk of Project 885M (cipher Yasen-M) will be handed over to the Russian Navy in the summer of 2025. This was announced by the head of the All-Russian Fleet Support Movement Vladimir Maltsev on December 6.

"Currently, the Arkhangelsk is undergoing state tests. It is planned that the submarine will be handed over to the Russian Navy in the summer of 2025," the TASS news agency quoted Maltsev as saying.

In June, the British tabloid Express reported that Russia's newest multipurpose nuclear submarine Arkhangelsk would strengthen the country's naval forces and become a threat to NATO. A couple days later, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Moiseyev said that the Russian Navy will receive 12 new warships by the end of 2024, including eight surface vessels and four submarines.

In the same month, Mikhail Budnichenko, director general of Sevmash machine-building enterprise, said that the Russian Navy will receive several nuclear-powered submarines in 2024, which will strengthen Russia's nuclear triad.
