In Russia, members of the Colombian cartel "Cali" were detained with 570 kg of cocaine, which were intended for transportation to the EU countries. This was reported on December 6 in the Central Office of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation.

"The FSB and FCS of the Russian Federation at an attempt to transport a particularly large batch of Latin American drugs to the European Union through the territory of Russia with red-handed detained members of the Colombian cartel "Cali". They seized 570 kilograms of cocaine, the wholesale value of which on the Russian black market is 1.5 billion rubles, while the retail value exceeds 5.5 billion rubles," reads the statement of the agency.

It also specifies that the operation to eliminate drug trafficking has been carried out for several years, since the moment when the special services learned about the plans of the South American group to change the routes to the EU countries through Russia. Monitoring of foreign economic relations with Latin America was organized to identify illegal cargoes. Criminal connections of the drug syndicate in the Russian Federation were revealed, as noted.

The FSB said that customs and operational information helped to detect in Russia a cargo unrepairable car from Peru in partially disassembled form. During the inspection, the special services found two foreigners, known as members of a drug cartel, who in the Moscow region transferred briquettes with cocaine from the units into a container for shipment to the European Union.

The FSB Investigation Department opened a criminal case against the foreigners and is investigating it. They have chosen a measure of restraint in the form of detention. According to the agency, this is already the fifth consignment of Latin American cocaine to be sent to the EU, which was detained in Russia in 2024.

Earlier, on November 28, the organizer of the criminal association was sentenced to life imprisonment for the production and sale of almost a ton of drugs. According to the investigation, from 2015 to 2018, the criminal group operated in different regions of Russia and Belarus, and its members were in contact with each other through phone calls and the Internet.

The court sentenced the organizer of the criminal association Moiseyev to life imprisonment with a fine of 4 million rubles. The accomplices were sentenced to imprisonment for terms from eight to 23 years with fines totaling 16 million rubles. They will serve their sentences in correctional colonies of special and strict regimes.
