American entrepreneur Ilon Musk spent at least $260 million on the election campaign of US President-elect Donald Trump, CNN reported on December 6, citing Federal Election Commission documents.

"Ilon Musk has invested at least $260 million in the effort to return Donald Trump to the White House. This colossal infusion makes him one of the largest political contributors to the presidential campaign," the publication said.

According to the broadcaster, Musk's actions had a major impact on the outcome of this year's election.

Earlier, on November 13, Trump announced that American entrepreneurs Ilon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will head the new Department of Government Efficiency of the United States (DOGE). This department will have to take a direct part in the reorganization of the American government. The department's work will be completed no later than July 4, 2026, Trump said in a press release.

The election of the 47th president of the United States was held on November 5. In the national vote, Trump received 51% of the votes, while the candidate from the Democrats Kamala Harris received 47.4%. Later, the politician, speaking to supporters, called himself the 47th President of the United States and said that his goal as head of state considers the end of military conflicts in the world. Trump's inauguration will take place on January 20, 2025.
