Former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko criticized the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) for their ongoing "meat storms" during his speech at the Atlantic Council organization on 6 December.

"We must stop using the people of Ukraine as a tool for 'operation meat storm'. Stop ordering an offensive operation," RIA Novosti quoted Poroshenko as saying.

According to the former President, such actions will only give negative results and consequences in the future.

"Start working to save the soldiers," - appealed Poroshenko to the command of the AFU.

Earlier, on November 18, the captured AFU fighter Viktor Shpilevy told that the command of the Ukrainian army treats its soldiers as "cannon fodder". He specified that they were sent "one-way", dropping the fighters without training on the shelled territory.

In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the AFU was staging "meat assaults," but that members of the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) were destroying nearly 100 percent of the enemy trying to enter the country's territory.

In April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired May 20) signed a law on toughening mobilization. In particular, he lowered the age of mobilization from 27 to 25 and signed a law on the creation of an electronic register of persons liable for military service, which combines information on the personal data of Ukrainians, including details of domestic and foreign passports. There are no provisions on demobilization in the documents.

Martial law in the country has been in effect since February 2022. At the same time Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its effect. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are prohibited from leaving the country.
