Accused of unsafe massage for children with cerebral palsy to be tried in Moscow


Law enforcement authorities have completed a criminal case against a married couple Nikolai and Lilia Nikonov, who provided children with cerebral palsy in Moscow with services that did not meet safety requirements. This was reported on December 6 by the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia (Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia) in the capital.
It is established that in the period from 2018 to 2020, the man, having no specialized medical education and pretending to be a high-class specialist, conducted a course of massage to a child for the amount of 3 million rubles. In turn, his spouse also conducted therapeutic sessions.
"During the specified time, the girl's condition worsened, and the parents turned to a doctor in one of the state hospitals," - stated in the Telegram-channel of the department.
The investigation also identified another family that paid 500 thousand rubles for massage courses to the child.
The couple was hiding from the investigative authorities. They were charged in absentia. Later, the defendants were found on the territory of Kazakhstan, as a result of which they were detained and extradited to Moscow.
The defendants did not admit guilt in the crimes during interrogation. The criminal case was transferred to the court.
Earlier, on August 29, a source of "Izvestia" reported that a patient died in "SM-Klinik" in St. Petersburg after surgery to remove tonsils. It was noted that the man underwent the procedure under general anesthesia. The operation was performed by an otolaryngologist, after which the young man was in the hospital. After discharge, he went to the clinic with complaints of bleeding from the throat. He was taken to the operating room, but despite the attempts of doctors to stabilize his condition, the man died.
The father of the young man accused the doctors in a conversation with Izvestia of his son's death. According to him, the doctors recommended that the young man have his tonsils removed.
A criminal case was opened over the incident.
