G7 leaders plan to hold an online meeting next week on Friday, December 13. This was reported by NHK TV channel on December 6, citing sources.

"According to government officials, G7 countries are coordinating to hold an online summit meeting next week, on the 13th, and it is planned that Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba will attend," the publication said.

It is specified that the meeting will focus on the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. In addition, the countries want to confirm the unity of the G7 and the intention to continue working together against the backdrop of the election of US President Donald Trump.

Earlier, on December 4, American Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced the transfer of $50 billion from the assets of the Russian Federation to Kiev in the near future. He specified that the West has a commitment to provide training and equipment for each Ukrainian fighter that Ukraine mobilizes.

Ukraine on the same day signed a memorandum of understanding and a loan agreement with the European Union to raise €35 billion in aid to Kiev, which are part of an initiative by the G7 countries on a mechanism for additional loans to boost Ukraine's budget revenues.

In June, the G7 countries promised in the final statement of the summit in Puglia, Italy, that they would provide Ukraine with loans worth about $50 billion by the end of 2024, repayable from the proceeds of Russian assets. In late October, the G7 leaders reached an agreement on the details of the loan.

Western countries have stepped up military and financial support for Kiev amid Russia's special operation to defend Donbas, which was announced to begin on February 24, 2022.
