California governor declares state of emergency in state after earthquake

A state of emergency (SOE) has been declared in California, USA, after the magnitude 7.0 earthquake that occurred earlier. State Governor Gavin Newsom announced this on December 5.
"I just approved a state of emergency to allow more resources to go where needed for the emergency response to this morning's magnitude 7.0 earthquake," he wrote in a post on his X (former Twitter) social media page.
Newsom also emphasized that his team is working swiftly to ensure the safety of the state's residents.
Earlier in the day, the threat of a tsunami was announced in the United States after a magnitude 7.0 earthquake near California. It was specified that initially the earthquake was magnitude 6.6. At the moment there was no information about casualties and destruction. The tsunami threat was canceled later that day.
