Units with Lancet ammunition have been established in artillery regiments and artillery brigades

Lancet-equipped units noticeably increase the combat capabilities of artillery regiments and artillery brigades of the Russian army, Dmitry Kornev, editor of the Military Russia portal, told Izvestia.

The expert commented on the news that artillery regiments and brigades of the Russian Armed Forces have formed new reconnaissance and strike units equipped with Lancet barrage munitions.

They are already being used in the area of the Strategic Defense Forces - they destroy enemy guns, self-propelled artillery units (SAU) and multiple rocket launchers (MLRS).

Dmitry Kornev recalled that the Lancet occupies an intermediate position between artillery and operational-tactical missile systems of ground forces in terms of range and a number of combat properties.

"Barrage munitions are good when working against artillery tactical missile systems and air defense systems. Depending on the modification, the range of the Lancets is up to 80 kilometers. This allows to reach and destroy enemy targets far enough in the rear. Counter-battery warfare is now one of the most important components of combat. The defense of Ukrainian forces is largely based on artillery. But "Lancet" works well against armored vehicles, infantry concentrations, supply points, headquarters fortifications, air defense systems and even against the enemy's UAV units when drones are used. They are good at destroying HIMARS and MLRS missile launchers," he explained.
