Lavrov says Russia and the U.S. can cooperate for the sake of the universe

Russia and the United States could cooperate for the sake of the universe. This opinion was expressed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson published on December 6.
"Of course, we would like to have normal relations with all our neighbors. Generally with all countries, especially with such a great country as the United States," the minister said.
Asked by a journalist whether Lavrov believes that the US and Russia are currently at war, he replied that the Russian side would not want that. The diplomat also added that Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly expressed his respect for the American people, the history of the United States, and American achievements in the world.
"We see no reason why Russia and the United States cannot cooperate for the sake of the universe," Lavrov said.
Earlier, on December 4, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia is ready to respond to the provocations of outgoing US President Joe Biden's administration. In his opinion, Western countries underestimate Russia's determination to protect its interests and national security, which may force Russia to use even more powerful weapons in Ukraine.
Earlier in the day, Ryabkov said that Russia was ready to consider Trump's proposals on Ukraine. The diplomat specified that at the moment Moscow had no direct contacts with US President-elect Donald Trump about his comments on ending the Ukrainian conflict in 24 hours.
