The new Prime Minister of France will be appointed in the coming days. This was stated by the President of the country Emmanuel Macron on December 5.

"A new Prime Minister will be appointed in the coming days, he will have to unite all the forces in Parliament. <...> I want to thank Michel Barnier for his dedication. He and his ministers have risen to the occasion," he said, broadcast on the Elysee Palace's X social media page (formerly Twitter).

Macron also pointed out that the new prime minister will have to form a cabinet of representatives of all parties. In addition, according to the president, the new government will be in charge of preparing the budget plan for 2025.

"The priority of the new government will be the budget. As early as mid-December, a special law will be adopted, which, as stipulated by the Constitution, will allow the work of state institutions to continue [until the entire budget is adopted]," he emphasized.

France's National Assembly (lower house of parliament) passed a resolution of no confidence in the Barnier government on December 4. 331 deputies voted in favor of the vote of no confidence. Nicolas Dupont-Eignan, leader of the "Stand Up France" party, cited Macron's financial chaos and his commitment to U.S. President Joe Biden as the reason for the loss of confidence in him.

Later, on December 5, Macron accepted Prime Minister Michel Barnier's petition to resign from the government. It is specified that the resigned prime minister continues to lead until the appointment of a successor.

In turn, the chairwoman of the faction of the left-wing party "Unruly France" Mathilde Panot accused Macron of creating a political crisis in the country, and also stated the need to hold early presidential elections.

In addition, according to the poll, 54% of the French approve of the idea of Macron leaving office to hold early presidential elections in 2025. In addition, 40% of respondents do not see a way out of the current crisis in the country.
