The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are on the verge of collapse in the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone. This was stated by former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter on the YouTube channel Judging Freedom.

"The Ukrainian armed forces are falling apart right now, it's a long-awaited collapse, and it's accelerating. Ukrainians are beginning to surrender in numbers never seen before," Ritter said on Dec. 3.

According to him, Ukraine is in a deplorable state because of problems with energy supply and failures of Ukrainian soldiers in the conflict zone. Ritter also suggested that at least 5 million Ukrainians may leave the country.

In the West, many recognize Kiev's plight. On December 5, Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans said that Kiev is already losing in the Ukrainian conflict because Russia has a strong military advantage.

Earlier, on November 12, US entrepreneur Ilon Musk said that there was no progress in the conflict in Ukraine. He agreed that the Ukrainian authorities are "simply sacrificing the country's youth for no territorial gain."

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
