The Bahamas has not agreed to accept migrants from the U.S. under the Trump team's plan

The Bahamas rejected the proposal to accept on its territory deported migrants from the United States, which was sent by the team of the American President-elect Donald Trump. This is reported on December 5 on the website of the office of the Prime Minister of the Latin American state.

About a similar proposal earlier in the day reported the TV channel NBC News. According to his sources, the Bahamas are on the list of countries that Trump's associates are considering for the expulsion of migrants if they are not accepted in their home countries.

"The Prime Minister's Office wishes to comment on recent reports of a proposal by Trump's transition team in the US that the Bahamas accept flights with deported migrants from other countries. This matter was presented to the Government of The Bahamas, considered and strongly rejected by the Prime Minister," the Bahamian Prime Minister's Office assessed these reports.

They emphasized that the country does not have the resources to meet such a request, and the head of its government considers it a priority to solve the problems of its own people. It is specified that after the rejection of the request, there were no contacts on this topic with the Trump team.

Earlier, on November 5, Trump - at that time still a presidential candidate - in his final speech before the election said that because of migrants, the United States is an occupied country. He promised to "save" every city and town that had been "invaded and conquered." Later that month, the Republican confirmed that his administration would be prepared to use the army and declare a state of emergency to deport illegals en masse.

The election for the 47th president of the United States was held on Nov. 5. In the national vote, Trump received 50.5% of the vote, while Democratic candidate Kamala Harris received 48.4%.
