- Only in 48% of surveyed companies in Russia employees will not receive New Year gifts

In Russia, 52% of companies plan to give gifts, and in 22% of cases only children of employees will receive them. Branded merchandise will be given to their employees by 11% of employers, gift cards or certificates - 10%, and 9% will prepare sweet sets. This is stated in the results of the research of the Russian School of Management (RSM) and recruiting company Get experts, which was read by "Izvestia" on December 8.
There are 48% of companies whose employees will not receive New Year's gifts: 13% of them say that they do not have such a tradition, and 35% of them refer to financial difficulties.
At the same time, experts found out that 73% of professionals expect gifts from their companies, 43% of them say that most likely the gifts will be only for children. In addition, 13% think that it will be branded merch, 10% are inclined to the version about gift cards or certificates, 7% believe that the gifts will be sweet sets.
"Employers should remember that in a time of limited resources, even small but meaningful gestures - be it gift certificates, sweet sets or branded useful merchandise - can strengthen the bond between a company and its employees. This is especially relevant at a time when the labor market dictates the need to retain qualified specialists and to form a positive image of the employer," said Anastasia Borovskaya, Director of the Russian School of Management.
37% of employers are going to pay New Year or annual bonuses, 27% will do it before the holidays and 10% - after them. 67% of those who plan to pay bonuses will give them to all employees, 32% - only to top management, 16% - to heads of departments. Another 21% of companies will pay bonuses selectively depending on the results of the employee's work for the year.
In addition, 11% of companies have not decided on the issue of bonus payment. 52% of employers will not pay bonuses to their staff: 43% have never done it, 9% refused bonuses due to financial difficulties.
Only 36% of employees expect a bonus. 29% hope to receive it before the New Year vacations, 7% - after. 64% do not expect a bonus: 50% of employers never pay it, and 14% say that their companies have a difficult financial situation.
When asked what they plan to spend their bonus on, 60% of employees said they would spend it on vacation. 43% will use the money to repay a loan or mortgage, 24% will put it aside in savings, 7% will invest it, and 5% will make a large purchase.
"Often New Year gifts and annual bonuses are pleasant additions to the current package. Their presence has a positive impact on the company's image on the labor market, this is especially relevant now, when the market has a distinctly candidate-oriented character, that is, job seekers can choose from several offers. When choosing, they are guided by a variety of factors, among them the payment of bonuses at the end of the year or the availability of Christmas gifts. Therefore, employers should analyze their possibilities before giving up these measures for the sake of saving money," said Olga Shamber, General Director of the recruiting company Get experts.
Earlier, on November 15, marketer and CEO of BCSA Elizaveta Voloshanina told Izvestia that it is better to start buying gifts and necessary goods for the New Year in advance. This way you can avoid impulsive purchases.
