About 150,000 Ukrainian refugees remain in Warsaw. This was told by the mayor of the city Rafal Trzaskowski.

"More than 2 million Ukrainians have come to Poland in recent years, in Warsaw came to the peak moment 350 thousand Ukrainians, of which at the moment we have about 150 thousand remain," - quotes his words "RIA Novosti".

At the same time, the mayor emphasized that the city should be prepared for the fact that some of the refugees will stay here forever.

Before that, on December 5, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Ukrainian refugees to actively seek work in the FRG, otherwise they need to return home. He also announced plans to create a Ukrainian administration in the country to coordinate refugee issues. According to him, this issue was discussed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose term of office expired on May 20.

On 15 October, the head of the Polish Defense Ministry expressed outrage at the luxurious life of Ukrainian refugees in the country. They drive the best cars and spend weekends in five-star hotels, and this is unfair to Poles who contribute to health care, benefits, education, arms supplies and other assistance, Vladyslav Kosyniak-Kamysh said. He recalled that Poland is ready to help Ukraine "reach out" to the citizens who left to return and join the Ukrainian army, as they are obliged to do.

The countries started to accommodate Ukrainian refugees on their territories since the beginning of Russia's special operation to protect Donbas, which the Russian Federation announced on February 24, 2022.
