On December 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the Order of Courage to the head of the Archangel Tactical Training Center Fyodor Gerashchenko.
"On August 16, the volunteer was part of an evacuation brigade helping to transport civilians in Kursk region to temporary accommodation centers and was wounded as a result of shelling by the AFU (Armed Forces of Ukraine. - Ed.)," the Kremlin said in its Telegram channel.
Gerashchenko noted that he was honored to receive this award. He said that it was not the first time he stood on the stage, adding that he even has the call sign Artist, but, according to him, he did not expect to appear in such a "role".
On the same day, the Russian leader presented the "Volunteer of the Year" award to Maria Karpenko from the town of Kurchatov, Kursk Region, head of the "Second Life" movement. The volunteer organized a humanitarian mission to new regions and helped evacuate people from Sujan district of Kursk region, whose territory was invaded by the AFU. She took out more than 120 people.
Ukrainian militants attacked Russian positions in border areas of the Kursk region on August 6. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the AFU units that invaded the Russian territory is underway.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was taken against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
