On December 5, the Russian Consulate in Casablanca responded to Izvestia's inquiry on the occasion of a conflict between Moroccan cab drivers and a Russian businessman and his wife.

"During the short conflict, the Russians were not hurt, if we do not take the moral and psychological aspect. None of them sought medical help," the document says.

According to the consulate, the spouses returned safely to Russia.

It is specified that the conflict had no political overtones. The reason for the altercation is "a long-standing confrontation between private cab drivers and their colleagues from private fleets in Casablanca, providing their services through their own mobile applications." The instigators of the conflict have reportedly been detained.

According to Morocco World News, on Nov. 29, the couple left their hotel and boarded a cab hailed using the app. Private cab drivers blocked the car, resulting in a conflict.

Earlier on November 18, in Moscow , a cab driver started shooting at a bus that honked at him. Presumably, the shot was fired from an air gun. As a result of the incident, no one was injured, but there is damage to the glass of public transport.

Law enforcement authorities detained the attacker. A criminal case under part 1 of article 214 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Vandalism") has been opened over the incident. The cab driver was chosen a measure of restraint in the form of a covenant not to leave.
