On Monday, December 9, Russian schools and colleges will host another lesson from the "Talking About Important Things" series. It will be timed to coincide with an important public holiday - Heroes of the Fatherland Day, which is celebrated in Russia on the same day. "Izvestia" tells how the lesson will be held in different classes.

"Talking about important" on December 9 - the theme of the lesson

The theme of the new lesson is "The Day of Heroes of the Fatherland". Its main task is to expand the initial ideas about the heroism and heroism shown by people of different ages and professions, and to form in students a sense of responsibility for the fate of their country.

During the lesson the children will learn about the traditions of the holiday and remember the feats of people who defended their homeland in difficult times, as well as made a significant contribution to the development and prosperity of our country.

Hero of Russia Vladislav Golovin, a participant of one of the battles during the liberation of the city of Mariupol in Donbass, known under the call sign Struna, will join the conversation in the form of a video interview.

The session will last 30 minutes. All methodological materials and recommendations are published on the project website.

"Conversations about important" on December 9 - lesson program

In grades 1-2 the children will remember the heroes of bylinas and other known to them defenders of Russian lands of different epochs, and then answer the question, what unites them all. In continuation, pupils will watch a fragment of the video "Heroic Children" and tell whether they can call any of their peers a hero.

In grades 3-4 the lesson will be supplemented by the presentation "Heroes of Bygone Times". According to the pictures, the children will have to name who is depicted on them and recall the events associated with each proposed hero. After that they will be shown the video "Russia is proud of them" and meet Vladislav Golovin, Hero of Russia.

Pupils of 5-7th grades will analyze the speech of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin before the participants of the All-Russian action "Memory Watch", in which the head of the state speaks about the importance of doing everything to ensure that children and all citizens of Russia know the heroes of their country. The students will also watch the movie "The Day of Heroes of the Fatherland" and answer the teacher's questions.

Grades 8-9 will continue the discussion of the country's heroic past. Pupils will be asked to reflect on why such a holiday as Heroes of the Fatherland Day appeared and why it was so important to give it the status of a state holiday.

In 10-11th grades the lesson will begin with demonstration of the video "History of the holiday Heroes of the Fatherland Day". Then the graduates will discuss the stories of people of different professions, whose selfless labor made a significant contribution to the development of our country.

For college students, the class will be more like a reflection lesson. The students will have to reason a lot and express their opinions on the questions proposed by the teacher. At the end they will draw a memory tree, which will become a symbol of respect and gratitude to the heroes of the Fatherland and a kind of connecting image between the past and the future.

"Conversations about important" on December 9 - about the project

"Conversations about Important" is an after-school series launched by the Ministry of Education in 2022. Students are taught about the history, state structure and culture of Russia. A number of topics are devoted to family values, topical issues of daily and school life.

Lessons are held every Monday in schools, colleges and technical schools. The last lesson was held on December 2 and was dedicated to Volunteer Day. They talked to the children about such a concept as "charity" and the development of volunteering in Russia and the world.
