The Ministry of Transport reported on the possibility to keep the return ticket if the flight is late

Passengers who are late for a flight will be able to use a return ticket. This became known from the order of the Ministry of Transport of Russia, published on November 29 on the site of official publication of legal acts.

The department approved a new procedure for charging for air transportation of passengers and baggage. It will work on September 1, 2025.

"The document retains all existing rights of air passengers, and introduces several important changes," the Ministry of Transport noted.

One such change is the possibility to keep the return ticket. Now, when buying round-trip tickets and being late for the first flight, airlines can cancel both tickets. According to the new order, from 2025 the return ticket will be retained by the passenger.

In addition, the amount of the fee for canceling transportation or changing its conditions "will be limited only by the actual costs of the carrier," the department added.

"Airlines will have to develop and approve documents containing the pricing principles they apply," the ministry pointed out, adding that this requirement will make the carriers' pricing policy more transparent.

Earlier, on December 3, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation said that Russia is interested in opening direct air service with Pakistan. It was noted that the aviation authorities of Russia and Pakistan will hold consultations on this issue.
