The Donetsk garrison military court has postponed the start of the criminal case over the murder of US journalist Russell Bentley. This was reported on December 5 by the representative of his widow Dmitry Ulyanov.

"The court began consideration of the case, but due to the non-appearance of the defendants, who were not delivered by the convoy service, the trial on the merits did not take place. The court postponed the consideration of the case on the merits to December 20," he told TASS.

As, in turn, "Donetsk News Agency" was told by the journalist's widow herself, the session will be closed.

"We will object to the process becoming open in the future," she added.

Earlier, on November 28, the criminal case on the murder of military correspondent Bentley was sent to court. This was notified by the Investigative Committee of Russia (IC RF).

The death of a volunteer of the Russian Armed Forces with the call sign Texas - a military correspondent from the United States Russell Bentley - became known on April 19. On April 12, the DNR Interior Ministry reported that Bentley had disappeared in Donetsk. It was noted that on April 8, 2024 he left in an unknown direction, and his whereabouts were not known.

In February, "Izvestia" managed to communicate with Bentley. He said that he received Russian citizenship two years ago and married a woman from the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. In addition, all his close friends are also in Donbass. Bentley noted that they met in 2015-2017. Some of his friends died, they were very brave and courageous soldiers, the man emphasized.
