Moldovan President Maia Sandu has dismissed Moldovan Energy Minister Victor Parlicov. The decree was published on December 5 on the website of the head of state.

"Victor Parlicov is recalled from the post of Minister of Energy", - the text reads.

The document comes into force from the day of signing.

Earlier in the day, Moldovan Prime Minister Dorin Recean demanded that Parliament declare a state of emergency in the energy sector from December 16. He also called for the resignation of Parlicov, the head of the state-owned company Energocom, Victor Bynzar, and a member of the supervisory board of Moldovagaz, Serghei Tofilat, because of the gas shortage.

Before that, on 28 November, Moldovagaz vice-president Vadym Ceban said that Moldova would ask the European Commission to help solve the problem of gas supply to the country if Ukraine stops transit.
