The new national project "Ecological Wellbeing" is a continuation of the national project "Ecology", it will address the tasks that were not achieved during that five-year cycle. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev on December 5.

"We have a new national project "Ecological Well-Being" - it is, in fact, a continuation of the national project "Ecology". We will deal with those tasks that we could not solve within that five-year cycle," he said at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects in the Kremlin.

According to him, first of all, within the framework of the national project, a closed-cycle economy will be formed, which includes work with solid municipal waste. In addition, there will be work on the elimination of landfills. He noted that about 190 landfills have already been eliminated under the previous national project. However, additionally there will be another 50 objects that need to be reclaimed.

Among the directions Patrushev also named the implementation of the project "Clean Air", which is aimed at reducing air emissions in cities, pollution in which is associated with the use of coal fuel. According to him, the geography of the project has been expanded to 29 cities and it is planned to reduce emissions by 2026.

In addition, the Ecological Wellbeing will continue to reduce untreated wastewater, which has been implemented in the Volga and Baikal. According to Patrushev, the facilities have been erected, but not all provide the necessary regulatory effluents, so they require finalization.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that within the framework of the national project "Ecology" in 60 regions of Russia eliminated 242 environmentally harmful objects, 157 of which are large landfills. He noted that the ecological situation in Russia is changing for the better.
