Russia remains in first place in the world in terms of wheat supplies. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 5 at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.

"Russia confidently takes the third place in the world in terms of food supplies in general and retains the first place in terms of grain supplies. Wheat. First place in wheat supplies," Putin said.

He recalled that the USSR purchased almost 35 million tons of grain in 1988, and Russia exported 66 million tons in 2023. The President is sure that this figure speaks for itself.

The head of state demanded timely financing of spring field work in Russia. Putin instructed Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin to control this issue.

Earlier, on November 25, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said that the gross grain harvest in 2024 in Russia will amount to 130 million tons, including 83 million tons of wheat. Thanks to this, Russia will be able to export about 55-60 million tons of cereal crops to foreign markets.

At a lecture at the federal educational marathon "Knowledge. First", the Deputy Prime Minister said that the 2024 harvest guarantees Russia's food security. Patrushev pointed out that the year was difficult for agrarians because they faced frosts in May, drought in summer, and then rains. Nevertheless, the agricultural industry was able to successfully cope with all the challenges.
