St. Petersburg named the reasons for the slow construction of the subway

Construction of the subway in the budget of St. Petersburg for 2025 is allocated in a separate item. This was directly requested by local residents, said Denis Chetyrbok, head of the budget and finance committee of the Legislative Assembly, during a press conference on Thursday, December 5.
"Over the past few years, the city has been rather engaged, if I put it correctly, in correcting those mistakes that have been accumulating since the 1990s, when the leading metro construction organization was privatized. We have seen what it led to," said the official, his quote is transmitted by the correspondent of TV channel "78".
According to Chetyrbok, the city has sorted out administrative issues and is entering the stage of more serious financing of subway construction. About 32 billion rubles have been pledged, although earlier they could hardly absorb 10 billion due to lack of capacity.
"The city went the way of laying in the budget only those amounts that are now confirmed by documents and that we can master, so that they do not lie dead weight and were not frozen", - explained the deputy.
As the head of the Committee added, the Northern Capital has every reason to count on federal co-financing of the subway construction. For this purpose it is necessary to submit applications, competently form documents and defend their right to receive money.
"We are in a sense competitors for other regions. We have to defend that our projects are better, more reasonable and they are the ones that deserve co-financing," Chetyrbok summarized.
For the next three years in the budget of the city on the Neva River laid 170 billion rubles for the construction of the subway. Metro station "Gorny Institute" promises to open in 2024.
Earlier in November it was reported that more than 557.4 million rubles will be spent on the repair of the subway "Baltiyskaya" in St. Petersburg. The work should be completed by January 29, 2025.
