- Media allowed the conflict to escalate after the appointment of the US special envoy for Ukraine

The appointment of Keith Kellogg as US special envoy to Ukraine may lead to an escalation of the conflict. This was reported by The American Conservative (TAC) on December 5.
"There are several indications that he (US President-elect Donald Trump. - Ed.) may follow in the footsteps of the 37th US President (Richard Nixon. - Ed.) Nixon, escalating <conflict> in an attempt to end it. Trump's appointment of retired Lieutenant General Kellogg as his envoy to Ukraine is one such sign," the publication said.
The publication writes that Kellogg views the conflict in Ukraine through the same prism as US President Joe Biden.
Western media reported on December 5 that a Ukrainian delegation led by the head of the office of the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky (whose term expired on May 20), Andriy Yermak, held a meeting with the Trump administration. According to The Wall Street Journal, Kellogg, whom the U.S. leader-elect intends to appoint as special envoy for Ukraine, supported Biden's plan to increase arms deliveries to Kiev. According to him, in this way Trump will be able to allegedly influence Russia during negotiations on the settlement of the conflict.
Back in April 2024, Kellogg shared his vision for resolving the conflict in Ukraine; it was published by the Center for Eastern Studies (OSW) on December 3. He stated that it is necessary to end the political isolation of the Russian Federation, to establish diplomatic contact with Moscow, and to retain the territories liberated by Russia. In addition, he proposed a long postponement of the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO. At the same time, his plan includes the continuation of military support for Kiev and the provision of security guarantees.
Earlier, on December 4, it became known that the Trump team has three plans to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. So, this is Kellogg's plan, one is from Trump's vice-president-elect JD Vance, and the other is put forward by Richard Grenell, Trump's former acting intelligence chief.
On the same day, Bloomberg reported that NATO wants to get Kiev to start ceasefire talks.
The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, 2022, is ongoing. The decision was taken against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
