Manturov noted the need to scale product labeling

The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) need to scale up labeling, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said in a video message to the participants of the plenary session "Security Space: the future of the EAEU without counterfeit and falsification" of the XII International Forum "Anti-counterfeiting" on December 5.
"We need to scale the labeling of the most sensitive to counterfeiting types of products. In Russia, this digital tool to combat illicit trafficking is already being implemented for 24 product groups. We welcome the fact that labeling is being actively implemented in the EAEU countries, as well as in Uzbekistan. We trust that our partners will expand the list of labeled nomenclature. We are ready to provide them with organizational, technological and analytical support," Manturov said.
According to him, further consolidation of efforts to clean up the shadow market is relevant given the growth of trade turnover within the perimeter of the Eurasian Economic Union. At the same time, its volume in 2024 reached a record and amounted to Br7.4 trillion - almost twice as much as at the time of the union's creation.
In turn, First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aizhan Bizhanova said that the labeling system in Kazakhstan has already demonstrated results in sectors such as tobacco products, shoes, pharmaceuticals. According to her, the country will continue to develop the labeling system, including new groups of goods.
In addition, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Priyezheva added that Russia is already working on the introduction of new measures to combat the sale of counterfeit and illegal products on marketplaces with the help of labeling. She explained that the platforms will be obliged to check suppliers for registration in the "Honest Mark" labeling system, check codes on goods and comply with the requirements for data transfer to the system.
For this purpose, the integration of marketplaces' systems with the state labeling system is now under consideration. Additionally, it is planned to oblige online stores to independently take measures to exclude the possibility of selling unlabeled goods.
In addition, Alexander Demyanov, a member of the Board of Directors of the Center for Development of Advanced Technologies - the operator of the labeling system "Honest Mark", drew attention to the fact that in Russia large and medium-sized businesses, industry associations interested in whitening the market, initiate the introduction of labeling in their industry.
Earlier, on December 1, Russia launched the first stage of mandatory labeling of certain types of canned products. As "Izvestia" was informed in the CRPT, by that time 135 manufacturing companies were registered in the "Honest Mark" system. More than 5.1 million units of products with a special code arrived on store shelves.
