Moscow police reported about a new scheme of fraud through flower delivery

New groups of swindlers have appeared in Moscow, who deceive people by pretending to deliver flowers from a "secret admirer". On December 5, Vladimir Prasolov, acting head of the department for combating the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Main Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow, warned of a new scheme of swindlers.
It all starts with the fact that the courier arrives with a bouquet of flowers at an address where no one ordered a gift, and leaves it for the recipient.
"The citizen is happy about this, but the next day they call back, allegedly from the delivery service, and ask for a code to confirm that the order has been received. But these are identification numbers to confirm financial transactions," Prasolov said during a press conference, his words are quoted by TASS.
In addition, a seasonal scheme of fraud during sales has become widespread, he added. For this purpose, attackers create fake sites of marketplaces and send phishing links with discount offers. In the case of transition to them on the victim's mobile device begins to download malicious software, and the criminal has access to the gadget.
Earlier, on December 4, Igor Bederov, founder of Internet Search and director of the investigation department of T.Hunter, told Izvestia about a new scheme of deception on the Internet - spoofing. He noted that in this type of cyberattack, the attacker disguises himself as another person, company or object in order to gain the trust of the user. In order not to fall for the tricks of attackers, it is necessary to verify the e-mail addresses of contractors by checking their technical - service - headers. This makes it possible to detect fake e-mail addresses.
