Another 150 schools will be commissioned in Russia by the end of the year. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on December 5 at the Council on Strategic Development and National Projects.

"Changes for the better have also occurred in the system of general education. Starting from 2019, almost 1,400 schools have been built, where 850,000 children are studying. By the end of the year, 150 more schools will be commissioned for more than 100,000 school places," Putin said.

He said that the program of capital repair of school buildings has been launched: within its framework, classrooms, internal communications and exterior decoration are being renovated. By the end of the year the number of buildings repaired under this program will reach 4.8 thousand.

Putin specified that all these measures are taken within the framework of the national project "Demography", and added that in Russia also created 46 thousand places in nurseries for children under three years old and put into operation almost 1.7 thousand kindergartens.

Earlier, on October 3, the head of state said that he had visited several renovated schools and could confirm that "the standard of such educational institutions is very good."

On the same day, the president instructed the authorities to pay attention to schools and libraries in new regions of Russia, because the situation there is deplorable due to the negligent attitude of the past authorities. Putin emphasized that teachers from Donbass, Novorossiya, Kursk, Bryansk and Belgorod regions demonstrate courage and loyalty to professional duty.
