Putin announced the elimination of almost 250 environmentally harmful facilities in Russia

Russia has eliminated 242 objects of accumulated environmental damage within the framework of the national project "Ecology," Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 5.

"Within the framework of the national project "Ecology" in 60 regions, 242 objects of accumulated harm to the environment - including 157 large dumps, which literally poisoned people's lives," the head of state said at a meeting of the Council for Strategic Development and National Projects.

The territory of these objects was reclaimed, which made the life of more than 20 million people more comfortable and safer, Putin added.

The President noted that the ecological situation in Russia is changing for the better. At the same time, he urged the Russian government and regional leaders to pay attention to the fact that there is still much to be done in the field of ecology.

Earlier, on November 15, Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov said that in 2024 Russian prosecutors recovered more than 400 billion rubles for damage to the environment. Every year they manage to stop up to 300 thousand violations of laws in the environmental sphere, said the head of the department.
